Lake Weir is a beautiful lake covering approximately 5,685 acres, located in Marion County in Central Florida. It is our largest lake and has a lovely round shape and varied topography ranging from high bluffs to white sandy beaches. The lake has a long history stretching back to the 1600’s and has always been “The place to be”.  There are several public beaches… Carney Island  is a treasure and now includes the famous Ma Barker house, and Hampton Beach where the whole family can gather to swim and eat.  In addition the Hope Boat Ramp is on the south shore where you can launch your boat.

On the weekends the Lake is a hot-spot of activity year round with favorite pass times being water skiing, fishing, sailing, boating, kayaking, and swimming. There are several restaurants where you can stop and eat by boat or car. Famous Gator Joe’s on the north end and Eaton’s Beach on the south side.
