Handling Florida Winters

Handling Florida Winters

Every once in a while, old man North blows and someone forgets to shut the barn door….up in Canada…..then in Pennsylvania……then in South Carolina and finally it gets past Georgia and surprises us with 30 degree weather!  Yes we’re frozen..we crank up our wood stoves, our fireplaces. If we venture outside it’s to cover our plants and put a light bulb on our well pipes.  No they aren’t buried six feet underground and yes they do freeze.

Out pets are saying “Are you nuts, you want us to go outside in this to pee???” We blow the dust off our sweaters and put the can of Off away for the day. If we do go outside we look like an advertisement for the latest snowmobile outfit, cross country skiers in the Arctic, or a mound of mishmashed clothes with a face sticking out. Our horses are thrilled that they can run around and act like lunatics and we have to use our hands to scrape the ice of the windshield because NO we don’t have ice scrapers.

Fast forward two days ahead……sweaters are packed away and the tank tops are back, well on top!  Dog sweaters washed and folded and Off handy to all!  Enjoy while it lasts…
